Planned Parenthood Action Fund Proud to Endorse President Obama
“There is no better way to protect the future of women’s health in America than by re-electing President Obama.”
The Planned Parenthood Action Fund will be spending as much time as possible between now and Election Day making sure that every voter in every corner of America knows just what is at stake on November 6.
President Obama knows that protecting women’s access to basic health care is essential. He’s demonstrated that he understands the specific economic challenges women face, and has worked with us hand-in-hand to help women meet those challenges. And, he’s made certain that women and families across America will get birth control covered without a co-pay and expanded access to basic, lifesaving care like cancer screenings, HIV tests and counseling, and more.
Mitt Romney, on the other hand, has promised to “get rid” of Planned Parenthood. He’s pledged to end the nation’s family planning program and to allow employers to deny women insurance that covers birth control. He wants the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, taking away women’s right to make their personal health decisions and giving that power to government and politicians.

Under the Affordable Care Act, about 630,000 uninsured veterans would qualify for Medicaid, and an additional 520,000 would receive subsidized health insurance in the state exchanges, according to a study from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. “It is striking how many of the uninsured veterans would qualify for Medicaid under the ACA,” said the report’s co-author Genevieve Kenney. Nationwide, 1.3 million veterans are uninsured, and another 900,000 veterans use VA care but have no other insurance coverage. On top of that, about900,000 adults and children in veterans’ families are uninsured.

Honoring Justice Sonia Sotomayor

Justice Sotomayor rose from the housing projects of the Bronx to take a seat in the highest court in the United States.

By nominating her to the Supreme Court, President Obama demonstrated his commitment to diversifying the federal judiciary in terms of race, gender, and life experiences — under President Obama, more women, African Americans, and Hispanics have been confirmed as judges than under Presidents Bush and Clinton.

President Obama is ready to fight for our community, and make sure our children can grow up to be the next Supreme Court justices if they want to be, regardless of their background.

Join us in honoring the anniversary of Justice Sotomayor’s nomination. Watch this video, and share your story on why you’re a Latino for Obama:https://my.barackobama.com/justicesotomayorvid

I have always felt that a politician is to be judged by the animosities he excites among his opponents.

Market Watch’s Rex Nutting examines the facts and concludes, “of all the falsehoods told about President Barack Obama, the biggest whopper is the one about his reckless spending spree.” The actual record under President Obama “doesn’t show a reckless increase in spending. Far from it.” Take a look at Nutting’s breakdown of spending over the last four years, which says that, under President Obama, federal spending is rising at the slowest pace since Dwight Eisenhower was President:

Here are the facts, according to the official government statistics:

  • In the 2009 fiscal year—the last of George W. Bush’s presidency—federal spending rose by 17.9% from $2.98 trillion to $3.52 trillion. Check the official numbers at the Office of Management and Budget.

  • In fiscal 2010—the first budget under Obama—spending fell 1.8% to $3.46 trillion.

  • In fiscal 2011, spending rose 4.3% to $3.60 trillion.

  • In fiscal 2012, spending is set to rise 0.7% to $3.63 trillion, according to the Congressional Budget Office’s estimate of the budget that was agreed to last August.

  • Finally in fiscal 2013—the final budget of Obama’s term—spending is scheduled to fall 1.3% to $3.58 trillion. Read the CBO’s latest budget outlook.

Over Obama’s four budget years, federal spending is on track to rise from $3.52 trillion to $3.58 trillion, an annualized increase of just 0.4%.

There has been no huge increase in spending under the current president, despite what you hear.

Most importantly, the President has a balanced plan that would cut deficits by over $4 trillion over the next decade, including the spending cuts he has already signed into law that will bring discretionary spending to its lowest levels as a share of the economy since the Eisenhower Administration.
